let’s Do something!
For more than 40 years, politicians have been trying to convince us that there isn’t enough to go around. While corporations and billionaires get trade deals, government bailouts and tax breaks, Ohio’s safety nets and public schools get gutted in the name of deficit reduction. Meanwhile, more and more folks are forced to take on second jobs, extra shifts, and credit card debt just to make ends meet. That isn’t how work is supposed to work.
I’m Don Leonard, and I’m running to represent Ohio’s 15th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Because Central Ohio deserves better.
The politicians are lying to us. America is not broke. Our economy is just broken.
Meet Don Leonard
I was raised by a single mom who fought hard to give me a better shot at life than the one she had. It wasn’t always easy. My childhood taught me the role that personal responsibility plays in achieving the American Dream. But it also showed me the critical importance of government safety nets, devoted public school teachers, and a little dumb luck. As an educator at a public university in Columbus, Ohio for the past ten years, it’s been my job to prepare the next generation to pursue their American Dreams. And now that I’m a dad, it’s my turn to give my daughter a better shot at life. I’m running for Congress to stand up to bullies, fight for working families, and make sure every child in Ohio’s 15th District can dream ever bigger dreams.
We need an economy where every full-time job supports a full life, whether it’s food services or investment banking. Where our kids can eventually afford to move out of the house and start a life of their own. Where a single parent’s take home pay is more than enough. And where automation technologies give us more time with our family, not fewer job opportunities. But building this future requires bold national action. And it starts with tackling the big-ticket items that drain working families’ finances most.
Healthcare
All Americans deserve quality insurance they can afford to use.
Housing
Every working American should be able to afford to own a home.
childcare
Great care for our little ones shouldn’t cost a second mortgage.
Aging
Supporting family caregivers means more freedom for retirees.
We’re not stopping here
Fixing this broken economy is a central focus of our campaign. But there is still an awful lot left to do something about. We’re building this campaign from the ground up. That means I need to hear from you. What’s keeping you up at night? What’s standing in the way of living out your American Dream? What do you see when you look out your window?
The calendar has marked dates for small-group web conferences with me that are capped at no more than 8 participants.
Pick a time and let’s talk.
